FAQ’s
How do I make an appointment?
To make an appointment, just call my office and leave
a message. Calls are normally returned the same day
they are received, during normal business hours. If
you call during the late evening, or over the weekend,
I’ll return your call the next business day.
Will my insurance cover your services?
Payment for services is due at the end of each session.
If your insurance provides coverage for psychotherapy,
I can provide documentation so that your insurance
carrier can reimburse you. Please note that there is
a certain element of risk to your confidentiality and
privacy should you choose to submit a mental health
invoice to your insurance for reimbursement.
How do I know that our sessions are confidential?
All information discussed in session is totally confidential
and cannot be released without your written consent,
except under special circumstances as required by law.
How long have you been doing this work? What are your
areas of specialty?
I have worked with individuals, couples, and groups
for about 20 years, and specialize in adult and couples
counseling. My work includes an educational approach,
teaching life skills that enable adults to lead satisfying
and successful lives. My practice focus is on marriage
and relationships, life transitions, depression, anxiety,
grief and loss, as well as self-esteem and personal
growth issues.
In addition, I have worked extensively with the emotional
and marital issues related to the reproductive crises,
such as infertility and pregnancy loss, as well as
adoption and the choice to live child-free.
My partner and I have been having difficulty talking
to each other, and too often end up arguing. Can
you help us find better ways to communicate?
Absolutely. Counseling can be extremely helpful in
teaching you skills to be a better listener and communicator,
as well as learning ways to negotiate differences and
understand each other better.
My husband won’t come with me to counseling.
Will it still be helpful if I come and see you on my
own?
Yes it will. There is a certain dance every couple
does in relationship, and every time you behave in
an old way that doesn’t work, you can, without
realizing it, perpetuate the problem. But when one
person gains insight and makes changes, the other person,
and the relationship, must shift and change.
I have been undergoing fertility treatment, and am
having a difficult time dealing with feelings of anger
and loss. All my friends are moving on and having children,
and I’m feeling so alone. Can you help?
Yes I can. Infertility is a life crisis that can impact
virtually every area of your life. Counseling can help
you gain insight into your struggle, allow you to learn
effective ways to cope, and help you get the support
you need.
I’m doing pretty well, but often wish I could
feel more fulfilled. I’d love to have more passion
and creativity in my life, especially in my relationships
and in my work. Are you equipped to help me?
With additional training as a personal coach, I can
to help you to discover your gifts, maximize your strengths,
and design a fulfilling life.
